Tapas Acupressure Technique®

Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT®)* is a simple, easy and effective stress reducing technique that enables people to let go of emotional upsets, quiet inner negative chatter and reduce destructive anxiety.

Developed in 1993 by Tapas Fleming, an Acupuncturist in California, TAT is more than just “wishing” or “visualizing” change. TAT can help a person shift from being stuck in “the story” to a more desirable, healthier outcome (www.tatlife.com).

WHAT CAN IT BE USED FOR?

TAT has been shown to be effective for:

  • Ending stress, from mild discomfort to paralyzing trauma, including PTSD
  • Addressing fears and phobias
  • Gaining self-confidence and a positive outlook on life
  • Reframing relationships
  • Becoming free from allergic reactions
  • Losing and maintaining weight loss

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TAT SESSION?

         The TAT Pose

         The TAT Pose

Sitting comfortably, we will ask you to identify the concern you want to work on (e.g., emotional upset, trauma, limiting belief, troubling habit, allergies, physical condition, etc.). You do not need to say what you are thinking; simply be clear about what you want to work on. You will then hold the TAT Pose (touching a few acupuncture points on your face and back of your head).  With our guidance, you will put your attention on the Steps of TAT (a series of freeing and empowering statements).

Clients find it helpful and comforting to go through the process with the guidance, support and skills of a trained TAT Professional, especially when they are dealing with difficult or challenging issues. Then we will help you learn to maintain your progress.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

You do not have to analyze your situation, talk about the situation, relive the trauma or experience the stress during a session; TAT is not therapy. On occasion, you may feel an intensifying of feeling, but it usually lasts for only a few seconds.

While each person’s experience is different, at the very least, most leave each session feeling at peace and relaxed. You may or may not notice a change immediately. You are likely to notice an immediate change when you do TAT on a situation or trauma that is currently causing you stress. In some cases, you may not sense a change until life presents a situation and you respond differently and more effectively than before you did TAT.

HOW MANY TAT SESSIONS DO I NEED?

Each TAT session is complete unto itself. Sometimes related events will come to mind, or different aspects of an issue become apparent. These may need to be addressed from several angles before you feel that the entire issue is resolved.

What people say:

After my first session with Sandi, I had a conscious realization that I had somehow let go of emotions that had been causing me persistent anxiety. I felt no more hurt and pain - it ws just amazing to me, and I am still trying to figure it out. The work she and Teresa have done with me have helped me eliminate my dependency on the prescription sleep aid I have been taking. I feel that TAT has helped me become more balanced, appreciative and open to the world and the people around me.
