Reiki
Stress and life challenges cause imbalance and blockages of energy flow in our bodies. This Japanese technique is used to release energy blockages, enhance relaxation, reduce pain/stress, increase energy and promote sustainable healing.
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means Universal Life Force. It is a gentle technique; it is non-invasive and non-manipulative. The energy is channeled through the practitioner’s hands to the client, which activates the body's own natural ability to heal itself.
Reiki was founded by Mikao Usui in the 1800's. It was passed on to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, who then passed it on to Mrs. Hawayo Takata. It was Mrs. Takata who brought Reiki to the United States.
WHAT CAN IT BE USED FOR?
Reiki energy goes where there is imbalance in the body or where it is needed most. Reiki
- Promotes general relaxation
- Helps to relieve headaches, stress, fatigue, pain, anxiety or depression
- Promotes recovery from injuries
- Accelerates healing
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A REIKI SESSION?
Reiki sessions vary in length. Generally, it lasts about an hour, but it can also be 30, 45 or 90 minutes. In an in-person session, the client remains fully clothed and can choose to relax on a treatment table or sit comfortably on a chair. The practitioner gently places his/her hands, either on or just above the client’s body, in specific positions from the top of the client’s head to the bottom of the feet. Often, the client may feel some warmth or gentle vibration from the practitioner’s hands.
With the client’s permission, Reiki energy can also be transmitted long distance to the client.

What people say:
During my Reiki session, it didn't take long before I felt transported to a place of peace & relaxation. I could feel the tightness in my neck and shoulders drain away. I walked away from the first session with a wonderful sense of sereity and well being.
